Olive Tree Nutrition resonates with me on many levels. Growing up olives were a staple at home. Coming from an Middle Eastern background olives and olive oil are part of every meal. At any one time we would have more than two varieties of olives, and would often eat it with pita bread and dip it in strained yogurt (labneh). My mom uses olive oil to sautee vegetables, add to dips like hummus, and drizzle on salads. There was no shortage of olives!
Olives are a component of the Mediterranean Diet- a healthy way of eating which focuses on eating lots of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, healthy fats, nuts and fish. It limits red meat, processed foods and salt. Numerous studies have shown that the Mediterranean Diet reduces the risk of heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and promotes weight loss. Following a healthy eating pattern will give you energy, wellness, and joy.
On my website I hope to inspire you to follow a healthy lifestyle and start eating healthy. Life just keeps getting busier and the first thing that we tend to forget is our nutrition. In an attempt to ‘do more’, we ‘do less’ to our health. I feel you! Let’s work together on this journey of healthy eating.
